Mick Brown is originally from Australia but was parachuted into Britain at an early age. Where, aptly enough, he went onto to join the Parachute Regiment at 16 years of age.
Mick served with the 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment as a Non-Commissioned Officer in Theatres such as Sierra Leone, Northern Ireland & Kosovo.
Mick planned, developed, coordinated and instructed on numerous live fire packages at Battalion level in the role of Corporal. Developed training for new recruits and pre-cadres for soldiers attending junior command courses. Commanded a Section and conducted operations in the West African state of Sierra Leone. Led several teams during operational deployments in Northern Ireland and Kosovo. Performed the post of Rifle Platoon Sergeant on numerous occasions before leaving the Regiment with an exemplary record.
Since leaving the Military Mick has been involved in various security deployments Worldwide such as in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Papua New Guinea & Indonesia. Performing roles such as Armed Personal Protection Officer for Diplomatic Missions, Country Manager for major Industrial Corporations. Recruiting, training and managing in-country security teams within hostile environments.
Mick comes to Safety Works to expand Safety Works portfolio within the Security sector, particularly looking at innovative deployments of drones to enhance security of Oil & Gas and Energy sector assets.
Mick has been instrumental in designing the learning materials for the new Safety Works ‘Security Risk Management 5 Day Course (SRM)’ which is aimed at transferring knowledge and know how to company representatives throughout the Safety Works footprint of East Africa, SE Asia and the Middle East.
It is through the SRM course that Mick will look to up-skill local nationals and company representatives following on from him conducting Security Vulnerability Assessments where, again, Mick has designed and honed a penetrations and security vulnerability assessment checklist. All of which will be conducted in-country, at the asset and enable the checking upon the vulnerability of the client’s asset as well as the raising of local national skills level within the security industry.
